– Contains ready-to-use writing scaffolds that teach writing skills. The units guide students through the steps of creating extended pieces of writing in the three key text categories: Imaginative, Informative and Persuasive.

– The fourteen units explicitly teach the skills of writing a wide range of text types – including Short Stories, Poetry, Expositions and Discussions, Text Reviews and Text Responses, Reports, Descriptions, Recounts and Explanations.

– In each of the units, students analyse and learn from a real-life focus text. They examine the text’s structure, stages and language features and then apply this information and knowledge to start writing on their own.

– A selection of graphic organisers assist students to brainstorm ideas and end-of-unit assessment rubrics can be used by students, teachers or tutors to evaluate the text draft and suggest improvements.
