Description
Reading Conventions activity books 1-6 follow the new Australian Curriculum. They are designed to expand inferential reading skills and address curriculum focuses. Reading Conventions is a skills-based series that provides high quality, purposeful activities that students need to improve comprehension.
All forms of comprehension questioning are addressed, including literal, inferential, critical and interpretive. Each unit explicitly focuses on teaching, and providing practice for a number of key skills such as predicting and confirming, creating mental images, finding the main idea, making connection between print and images, using prior knowledge and recognising narrative voice.
Each unit of Reading Conventions has:
– A central Australian Curriculum focus working towards the achievement of particular content descriptions
– A separate inference section, which challenges children to infer meaning
– A high interest, age appropriate text type that children will enjoy reading.
